There are countless benefits involved with engaging in cardiovascular exercise. Respiration muscles are strengthened facilitating more air into the lungs. Heart muscles that are worked regularly pump blood more efficiently and reduce the resting heart rate. Muscles become toned and firm. Circulation is increased reducing the blood pressure. Cardiovascular exercise also decreases stress and lowers the chance of depression.

But there’s a small catch to cardiovascular exercise. It’s important to make sure you are working at your target heart rate. The best target heart rate zone is 50-85 percent of your maximum heart rate. A 20-year-old person’s target zone is between 100-170 beats per minute. A 50-year-old person’s target heart rate should be between 85-145 beats per minute.

It’s obviously not practical to stop and take your pulse every few minutes while working out. A cardiosport heart rate monitor is an easy way to make sure you are exercising in your target heart rate zone. These watch-like devices are excellent for use in the gym and allow you to work out efficiently.
